Singing a song decently is hard enough. Writing the lyrics of the song and adding music to it is even harder. Combining all these tasks to make music expressing activism and human rights can be the hardest thing to do. This interested workshop will be led by a seasoned song writer and musician who will discuss different aspects of songwriting including creating and linking music and arts to activism and human rights. Musicians, film makers, documentary enthusiasts and NGO activists can become more in touch with music and explore ways to enhance their social ideas and messages.
Film Screening: In The Shade of Fallen Chinar
In the shade of fallen chinar is a short documentary that was shot in kashmir valley a few days before the current unrest began, It takes a peep into the lives of a group of young kashmiri artist who are also University students. It talks about the factors that inspires their art and how it takes the form of resistance in a conflict ridden Valley.
