Film Synopsis:

This is the story of around 400 Manobo Lumads, students and community teachers from Talaingod, Davao del Norte who have evacuated to UCCP Haran in Davao.

The story follows Ricky, a Lumad parateacher who throught the militarization in the countryside remains unmoved amidst the threat of harassment to burn their lumad organized school.


Freedom Talk: Southeast Asia(SEA) Land Rights-Ground Wars and Court Battles

“Land is life, without land there will be no life” is a popular slogan and dictum of many different indigenous peoples in the SEA region. But history records a sad tale of indigenous peoples having to defend and battle for their ancestral and customary lands for the past hundreds of years. Today this tragic trend continues to plague indigenous communities across the region. In this session land rights activists from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines will share stories, exchange experiences and identify similar concerns and trends, and recognize the differences in their situations of land struggles across the SEA region. Exchange views and reflect together with representatives from the indigenous communities with regards to this life and death situation for hundreds and thousands of indigenous peoples in the region.
